Welcome to my site which, so far, is about music.
A few years back I was contacted by Mark Callaghan (GANGgajang & The Riptides) inviting HUG (Hobart Ukulele Group) to participate in the EveryOneBand project. We did, and joined over 2,500 professional and amateur singers and musicians (including Jimmy Barnes, Peter Garrett, Paul Kelly, The Sydney Symphony Orchestra to name a few) in recording the song Stand By You. The musicians’ charity, Support Act, receives the proceeds of sales of the single. A ‘recording of’ video can be viewed here (HUG features twice but if you blink you’ll miss them!)
I used GarageBand in the process of putting HUG’s participation together and discovered how little I knew of the application but a peek at what it could do really whet my appetite. Having decided to play around in GarageBand I needed to decide on what song to play with. Using a professional song was not an option as I knew my attempts would never stack up to the original recording that was playing in my head. So writing my own song seemed to be the only option. My song, Music Matters, was the result. On this site friends and family are welcome to listen to my efforts (Ginger’s Songs) &/or read about the life experiences told in the song (Music Matters).
As someone once said, “It doesn’t matter if it’s good…it’s the participation in creative processes that counts”. So I like to take Mark Twain’s advice and “sing [and play music] like no one is listening”.
